Every caller ends a call promising to send the details. Half of those messages never go.
The message a caller promises is the one most likely to be forgotten. With Telodial, the telecalling CRM, it goes out by itself when the outcome is chosen.
Attach a template to an outcome once. Every call that ends that way sends the right message with the customer name filled in, inside quiet hours and never twice.

How does automatic WhatsApp after a call work?
You write the message once as a template with the customer name and any of your own fields filled in automatically, then attach it to an outcome: a connected call, a missed call, or a move to a particular lead status. From then on Telodial sends that message the moment the caller closes the after-call sheet with that outcome, so the brochure or the price list arrives while the conversation is still fresh instead of at midnight or never. Three protections keep this from becoming a nuisance: quiet hours, so nothing goes out late at night, a per-contact cooldown, so the same person cannot be messaged twice in one evening by two different triggers, and an optional ask-first mode that shows the caller the message before it goes so it can be edited or skipped. Messages send through your own WhatsApp Business API account.
- Templates with the name and your own fields filled in
- Triggers on connected call, missed call and status change
- Quiet hours, per-contact cooldown and an ask-first mode
- Sent through your own WhatsApp Business API account
Step by step
- 1
Write the templates once
One for the brochure, one for the price list, one for the nudge, each with the name filled in automatically.
- 2
Attach each to an outcome
Choose which message goes with which status, missed call or connected call, then set quiet hours and the cooldown.
- 3
It sends itself
The caller taps the outcome, the message goes, and the history shows what was sent to whom and when.
Automatic WhatsApp after a call, in detail
The promise is kept automatically
The single most common broken promise in phone sales is the message that was going to follow. It stops being a memory task.
Personalised without typing
The name and any field you choose are filled in, so a hundred messages read as a hundred messages rather than a broadcast.
Missed calls answered instantly
A missed call can trigger a message before anyone is free to call back, which is often the difference between a lead and a lost one.
Quiet hours
Nothing goes out at eleven at night, no matter when the status changed.
One message per person
A per-contact cooldown means two triggers cannot both fire at the same customer in the same evening.
Ask first when it matters
Callers can be shown the message before it sends, so a sensitive conversation is never followed by a template.
What callers and owners tell us
Appointment reminders go out from the same place we call from, so the front desk is not juggling two systems on a busy morning.
Admission season is eight weeks of calling. Last year we tracked it in three sheets and lost count. This year one queue, one number, no arguments.
We had a cloud dialer for eight months. Customers stopped picking up because the number looked like a call centre. Back on our own SIM, the pickup rate almost doubled.
Quotes come from customers who agreed to be named this way, shared on WhatsApp or on calls, and trimmed only for length. We publish no star rating or review count, because we will not show a number we cannot show you the source of. Last checked September 2026.
Automatic WhatsApp after a call: what people ask
Do I need the WhatsApp Business API for this?
Yes. You connect your own provider and Telodial sends through your account, so the customer sees your business number. Message charges are billed by that provider at their rates.
Can a caller stop a message going out?
Yes. Ask-first mode shows the caller the message before it sends so it can be edited or skipped, and automatic messaging can be turned off for an individual contact.
What stops a customer being spammed?
Quiet hours prevent late-night sending, and a per-contact cooldown means two different triggers cannot both message the same person in the same window.
Can I see what was sent?
Yes. The history on each lead shows which template went out, when, and whether it was delivered and read.
Does it work on a missed call?
Yes, and this is where teams see the fastest gain: the caller who could not answer has already replied by message before they are free to call back.
Works with
Follow-up reminders that ring
Callbacks that ring full screen at the agreed time, with the last remark already on it.
OpenLead statuses and the after-call sheet
Your own pipeline stages, updated in two taps before the next number rings.
OpenExcel and CSV lead upload
Excel or CSV in, dialable records out, with duplicates merged rather than twinned.

What to automate and what not to
Every call ends with I will send you the details.
Automate that one. It is the same message every time, it is promised on almost every call, and it is the one most often forgotten by the evening. Automation here removes a broken promise rather than adding noise.
You are tempted to automate the whole follow-up sequence.
Automate the predictable part only. A message that could only follow the conversation you just had is worth writing. One that could have been sent to anybody reads as marketing, and customers learn to ignore the whole channel.
A customer replies to an automatic message.
Make sure a person sees it. Automation that sends but does not listen is worse than none, because it teaches customers that messaging you is pointless. The reply inbox is what makes the sending honest.
What people ask before turning this on
Will automatic messages get my number banned?
Not through the official channel, which is what it exists for. Bans come from automating an ordinary account with unofficial tooling, because the platform detects the pattern regardless of intent. If the sending is automated, the official route is the only sensible one.
What should the message actually say?
What you promised, with the customer name and the specific thing discussed. Generic brochures are ignored. A message naming the flat, the policy or the batch you just talked about gets read, because it is obviously about that conversation.
When should it send?
Immediately after the call ends, while the customer still has the conversation in mind. A message that arrives the next morning has to reintroduce itself, which is most of the reason a manual follow-up gets ignored.
Can I stop it sending to certain people?
You should be able to, and it matters. Anybody who has asked not to be messaged should be excluded automatically rather than by somebody remembering, and that exclusion has to survive the next import.
What this rests on
- The behaviour described is how Telodial sends after a call, through the official WhatsApp Business Platform.
- The account-ban explanation follows the platform own published position on automation.
What this page does not claim
- This is a page about our own feature. The advice to use the official channel is the platform position rather than ours alone.
- Message costs are set by the platform and billed through the provider you connect.
Worth quoting
- The most valuable message to automate is the one promised on almost every call and forgotten by evening.
- A message that could have been sent to anybody reads as marketing and trains customers to ignore the channel.
- Automated sending through an unofficial route is the usual cause of a WhatsApp number being banned.
- A message sent immediately after the call does not have to reintroduce itself.
- Automation that sends but does not listen teaches customers that messaging you is pointless.
