Lost lead
Lost lead: An enquiry marked as not converting, which in most businesses means it stopped being followed up rather than that the customer said no.
Definitions checked 4 September 2026.
The lost pile is the least examined and most valuable list a calling business owns. When teams audit it honestly, a large share of the records were never actually refused: they were called twice, went quiet, and were marked lost because the pipeline needed tidying. The customer, meanwhile, bought from somebody who kept calling.
This is why a lost status should keep a reason. Bought elsewhere, out of budget, wrong product and no contact are four completely different situations, and only one of them is genuinely closed. A lost list without reasons can only be treated as one undifferentiated block, which usually means it is ignored.
Worked properly, it becomes a monthly source of business. Filter lost leads older than a quarter, exclude the genuine refusals, and dial the rest with the original remarks on screen. Telodial keeps lost leads visible and callable rather than archiving them, and teams that run this list regularly consistently report it as their cheapest month of work.
