The auto dialer questions that come up after the definition
Updated 8 June 2026
What people ask once they know what one is
How much faster is an auto dialer, really?
On a SIM-based dialer, most teams move from 60 to 100 manual dials a day to somewhere between 150 and 250. The gain is not speed of conversation, it is the removal of twenty to thirty seconds of finding, reading and typing a number, repeated a hundred times. Teams with long conversations gain less, because their ceiling was always talk time rather than keypad time.
Do I need a special number or a telecom account?
Not for a SIM-based dialer. It calls out on the card already in the handset, on the plan you already pay for, and the customer sees an ordinary mobile number. Cloud dialers are the ones that need rented virtual numbers and a per-minute account, which is a different cost structure and a different answer rate in India.
Will people know the call was dialed automatically?
No. It is an ordinary call from an ordinary number, and there is no pause, tone or recorded greeting before you speak. That is the line between an auto dialer and a robocaller: one connects a person, the other plays at one.
What stops an auto dialer becoming spam?
What you feed it. Working your own enquiries on a number your business trades under is ordinary calling. Working a purchased list of people who never contacted you is what the rules restrict, and no software makes that acceptable. Keep the record of every call and mark anybody who asks not to be rung again.
Does an auto dialer replace a CRM?
No, and buying one expecting it to is the most common mistake in this category. A dialer removes the keypad work. Unless the record, the stage and the next follow-up are also in the app, you have made it faster to generate calls that nobody writes down.
The facts worth lifting
- An auto dialer typically moves a caller from 60 to 100 manual dials a day to between 150 and 250.
- The time it saves is the twenty to thirty seconds of finding, reading and typing each number.
- A SIM-based auto dialer needs no virtual number, no telephony account and no per-minute billing.
- An auto dialer connects a live person; a robocaller plays a recording, and India regulates the second as bulk promotion.
- A dialer without a lead record simply produces more calls that nobody writes down.
Which kind of auto dialer suits you
You call Indian mobiles and want them answered.
SIM-based. A familiar mobile number is picked up far more often than a rented one, and the call costs whatever your existing plan costs rather than adding a per-minute bill.
You need fifty agents dialing cold lists all day.
A cloud predictive platform. One SIM carries one conversation, so no app of this kind can open several lines per agent. Above that headcount the arithmetic genuinely favours predictive dialing.
One person, a short list, testing the idea.
A free tier. The only question at that stage is whether removing the keypad work changes your afternoon, and there are free tools that answer it without a subscription.
Where these figures come from
- The dial-rate ranges are typical of Indian teams of two to fifty callers using SIM-based tools, offered as a way to sanity-check a vendor claim rather than as a benchmark.
- The regulatory description follows the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India published position on unsolicited commercial communication.
- Definitions on this page were last reviewed on the date shown above.
What this page does not claim
- We make Telodial, which is an auto dialer, so treat the dial-rate figures as a starting point for your own measurement rather than a promise.
- Nothing here is legal advice. The regulator own pages are the authority on what may be dialed and to whom.
